I have been using solidworks at work for sometime now but I want to do a bit of work for myself at home so what is the best way to do this?

If you are lucky, your company can help you... this may be reduced rates on buying the package yourself or even letting you use a suitably powered laptop to have Solidworks at work, but be able to take it home.

If they don't have that option, I'm afraid you'll have to either go and download a less than legit version (careful of spyware, viruses, etc)
Approach Solidworks via their website - you can then get in touch with a local representative and see what they can offer. I went this way and have got a version for home use plus the ability to have an annual subscription for 24 hour support... but it's not cheap (there again, few CAD programs are).
