What is the best material to use when creating a can crusher?

By 6fc1ca9e on 01 Oct 15:42 3 answers 0 comments

I'm currently creating a can crusher on Inventor for a school project. I want to know what is the best material to use for each part, or rather should I use one material for all parts.

on the press where you're applying force off-center it is mostly for protecting against wear, but on the twisting press, when you start pressing down you don't wan't the can to slip. just a 2-3mm thick hard rubber sheet.

Standard cans like soda / beer / tin cans? You can use standard mild steel with proper corrosion protection. Maybe cover the wear surfaces (gripping the can) with rubber sheet.

The trick is to apply the force off-center, or to use a lock-twist-and-crush action. The rubber surfaces should also help to grip the cans...

Yes it is for standard cans. Would you mind telling me more about the rubber surface for can gripping?
