If you are conducting a mechanical design and wish to create a 3D model of the lens SolidWorks is very capable. If you want to conduct Ray tracing, there are packages for this, as well as addins for solidworks simulation.

Zemax, CodeV, OSLO is used for creating and simulating lens systems (sequential ray tracing). TracePro, LightTools, ASAP, FRED and also Zemax is used for non-sequential ray tracing/illumination design. There is usually an add-in for all of these to trace rays directly in the CAD software. It depends on the depth of analysis you require which one is the appropiate.
