How to convert CAD files in Workbench

How to convert multiple different file types such as sldprt ( Solidworks files) to Step, Iges, stl, Parasolid, acis, jt, or vrml formats.

  1. Step 1: Create a Workbench account

Grabcad gives very detailed instructions in creating an account. Just select Workbench (where it would otherwise say "Print" or "Community") in the top left corner of your screen to get started!

  2. Step 2: Upload you file into Workbench

This can be done by dragging and dropping your file into workbench, or by clicking the "Upload" button on the right side of the menu options

  3. Step 3: Download as...

Right click on the file you just uploaded and click on "download as..."

This will give you the option of downloading it as a STEP, IGES, STL, Parasolid, ACIS, JT, or VRML file.

  4. Step 4: Recieve new file

When the file is done being converted a pop up will appear saying your file is ready for download. You can download it directly by clicking "download file" and you also receive an email with the new file ready to download so you can easily download it at a later date without having to reconvert it!

Can you open the file in Workbench and view it in 3D? If you can't then it's definitely a corrupted file.

Sorry it didn't work for you. I hope I can help you get it working.

Did you upload your file into Workbench as an unzipped sldprt?
When you downloaded your file did you right click on the sldprt itself and select "download as..." or did you download a folder that the sldprt file was in?
What are you meaning by "extract the file"? The file is downloaded as an unzipped, ready to open file.
