How to produce animated avatar pics?

I used VirtualDub to produce my gif animation. There aren't as many setting to play around with but it gets the job done. http://www.virtualdub.org/index.html

1. Step 1:

   Generate renderings/images with numbering system (EX: RoboDont0001.tga,RoboDont0002.tga,RoboDont0003.tga....) or video file (.avi,.divx,.mpg,.mpeg...).
   

   

2. Step 2:

   In VirtualDub go to File - Open video file and select the first image in the set or the video file.
   

   

3. Step 3:

   The go to File - Export - Animated GIF. Select your file name, loops and hit ok. Your done!
