Office Chair Wheel

How to model a wheel for an office chair.

  1. Step 1: Initial Wheel Diameter

The first step is to create a new sketch of a circle with the diameter according to the final wheel size that we want.

To create a circle click on Start 2D Sketch > click on the plane that we want > circle.

  2. Step 2: Extrude

After the initial circle is drawn, we can then extrude to the desired width.

To extrude after sketch, click on Finish sketch > Extrude > Input the desired width.

  3. Step 3: Sketching The Wheel Axle

Create another circle on top of the extrusion, in our case the diameter is just slightly larger than the final axle.

To do that we click on Start 2D Sketch > Click the newly created extrusion surface > Draw another circle.

After drawing the smaller circle, we then extrude the smaller circle.

The next step is to create a new circle on top of the previous extrusion. The diameter of this circle is the final diameter of the wheel axle.

Extrude the axle to the desired width.

  4. Step 4: Repeating the First and Second Step

To create the other side of the wheel, we can simply repeat the first and second step, but we create the new sketch on top of the axle.

  5. Step 5: Adding Fillet

To make the wheel look and function better, we need to add fillets into our outside wheels.

The fillet option is located inside modify. Or alternatively we can click the edge that we want to fillet and there will be a small tab that opened showing the fillet option, as shown here :

  6. Step 6: Finish

    And we're done!
