Extruding from square to round

I would use a lofted boss/base for this if you want to do it the simple, solid way. Lofted surface would be more appropriate for a more complex surface model, but here's how you loft a solid boss.

What is zero thickness geometry?

0 0 Beginner
Zero thickness geometry is when a feature is created that can not be solved due to the fact that there is precisely zero material at only a point or an edge. An example would be if you created an extruded circle that is tangent to an extruded square. There is a good explanation here: http://help.solidworks.com/2012/English/SolidWorks/sldworks/HIDE_ZeroThickness.htm I've reposted the general guidelines from that site below as reference.

How to create a simple macro in SolidWorks?

0 0 Beginner
Ok, here it is. The Macro is attached. The screenshot of the macro is also attached. This macro creates a plane, draws a rectangle and extrudes it, every time in the same position irrespective of any other already presented features etc. There are comments for each operation, so It should be pretty clear now. Couple of main points: 1) Every time you create the sketch you have to assign it as an object to a new variable of type Object (in our case it is Sketch_Hardi) before(!) closing it. This way you will have all sketch names organized, and you will always select the right one. 2) Every new feature you create (Plane, Extrude, etc) with new variable of type Object as well. This gives you the same control of selection only the right features as you want them (By referring to it's name). Like in our case it is Hardi_Plane.Name and Hardi_Extrude.Name 3) If you have a lot of features, just use arrays of type Object (if you need help with arrays, loops etc, let me know) 4) We have a proper Object-Oriented code, so think in classes, methods, and instances. Again, need help, just point to the part that you do not understand and I'll explain it to you on a basic level. Hope this helps, enjoy

How can I do some like that - Scott Bruins' wall smash animation (link in the description)

0 0 Beginner
This method only works with animations that utilize gravity, like http://grabcad.com/library/grabcad-logo-smash and not http://grabcad.com/library/grabcad-wall-smash ... It's hard to explain everything that could be involved in other animations, so feel free to ask here if Damián Hardeo doesn't mind or in a separate question ... There are several ways to do this but here's the work flow I used ...

What would be the easiest way to model green leaves (see picture) in SolidWorks?

0 0 Beginner
An easy way is to start with a flat half-leaf without the stem and use the bend tool. Attached is a leaf modeled using this method, but using displacement mapping and stuff to get the texture, instead of just a decal. Think I left the stem out of this one because the plant I put it on had them already.
