The New Project phase-2 DONE!
I have uploaded an eDrawing of this model because the actual drawing file is so big it is 294meg. I believe that the eDrawing is executable so anyone should be able to open it. If not let me know and I will see what I can do to fix it.
This looks awesome! love your models mate :)
over 1 year agoThanks Robert, for your nice comments. I am glad to see that there are people out there that appreciate the old stuff.
over 1 year agoThe 1952 Harley I am drawing came out the year I was born. That is why I am drawing it.
Looks like it's becoming along nicely. How many hours you recon you'll spend modeling the whole bike? Looks like a major project.
about 1 year agoThanks Siim, it's getting there slowly but surely. I have about 250 hours in it already and probably another 100 hours to go for phase 2. Then comes phase 3!!!
about 1 year agoSiim, I have tried several time today to upload a new file of the progress on the phase-2 project. can't get it to upload....Whats-up?
about 1 year agoLooking good sir.
about 1 year agothanks Adam, been looking at your stuff i like it a lot. by the way where did you get that face?
about 1 year agoTerry, not sure about the upload thing, looks like you got it to work in the end? Could have been a network problem or a glitch with our hosting provider.
about 1 year agoThanks! Shopped a skull and cyborg eye in with my face
about 1 year agoGot a question, I changed the primary cover for the primary on this bike and copied the existing cover to make the new cover. I then inserted the new cover into the assembly with the old cover still in the assy. I hadn't made any changes to the new cover at this time so I opened the new cover from the assy and made all the new changes. When I went back to the assy you couldn't see any of the covers. I was able to get the old cover to turn on but could not get the new cover to show up no matter what I did. I even tried inserting the new cover into a new assy by itself and still can't see it.
about 1 year agoWHAT HAPPENED? I am using Solidworks 2010
Hmm that's a new one - rebuild, restart or reboot..
about 1 year agoMy thoughts too, so I did I rebooted, opened the assy again and still can't see the part. I tried coping the part to a different name still can't see it. So because the part is a pain in the ___ to draw I steped it out of the part file and created a new drawing without history. That drawing file works just fine.
about 1 year agoDON"T KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON.
Yeah that is wierd
about 1 year agoWell never figured out what happened so I made a new drawing. There are 2 renderings that show the new primary cover.
about 1 year agoAnd I finally got PhotView to except my black leather seat.
Terry, is it just me or is the framework on these bikes undersized. I know a conceptual drawing doesn't always reflect the engineered specs., just curious.
about 1 year agoHi Robert, what makes you think the frame is undersized?
about 1 year agoLooks good to me! Maybe the size of the seat makes the frame look small?
BTW Terry, I bought a Vmax :). Vroom Vroom.
about 1 year agoBy comparison to some photos I finally looked at of '52 panheads its exact. Man, I thought my bicycle stem was undersized for my arse. I'm not a mechanical engineer; thank god for the tensile strength of steel.
about 1 year agoThis looks fantastic! I have a quick question, are you modeling off of blueprints or just images? It looks great and the level of detail is awesome.
about 1 year agoThanks guys, cool Chanson be careful that bike is bad a** I built 2 of them into trikes...what a machine.
about 1 year agoRobert, did you see the other file I uploaded that has 2 pics from the Harley archives of a 52 FL... I got them when I was just about finished with my model... wish I would have found them earlier it would have made things much easier.
Hey Scott, thanks guy.. to answer your question I had an assembly blueprint of the drive train and a detail print of the frame to go by. The rest of the parts are all drawn from images.
Hey I like the project you started and want to do a section... got a few projects to rap up first then I will jump in with both feet.
about 1 year agoChanson, nice bike :)
The snow has finally melted away and I’m ready to roll out my very Italian red Vespa but boarding the plane on Sunday to fly over to Boston for the next two months so Vespa and espressos have to wait.
about 1 year agoToo bad, I know the feeling. I don't have the time to ride or do CAD :(. And the coffee at work sucks.
Terry, I saw your trikes so I knew you could relate. It IS a beast, never had this much torque on tap before. Here it is:
about 1 year agohttp://bit.ly/gNTTJD
Oh yah, it is bad, even as a trike it scares the mess out of me.
about 1 year agolike the pic of it, I know you will enjoy... just be careful.
Shes a beauty If I lived somewhere where I could ride all year long I would trade my truck for a bike!
about 1 year agoThanks Adam, did you see the other file with it in black and white? I think it looks just as good black and white.
about 1 year agoHi Terry, I'm really impressed about your work!
Is it possible to publish the whole frame as step-file into the library? I'm working on my pan right now and would need a such file for some design studies.
Thanks!
11 months agoHi Cosi, I have uploaded the frame as the Solidworks 2010 file and as a STEP file at this link. I think it should be what you are looking for.

9 months agofantastic ........ step file pls ..... pls
9 months agoWow I just saw this. Amazing stuff, very inspiring. As a life long motorcyclist I can't recall seeing a model as skillfully put together as this. Awesome work!
9 months agoThanks Jim, Doug and zerothree for the great comments. You are right Jim, it takes a lot of time to make models like this. Most of the time is finding pictures good enough to use to draw from. This model is drawn from pics not a real bike and it is for the most part full scale.
9 months agoDoug, I can't put the file up it is over 300meg. I have been putting parts of the bike up you can find them in my models, I think they all have Step files uploaded also. If you find one that doesn't let me know.
9 months agoplz upload stp, step, igs file ????

Thanks in advance!
Terry I don't know why I continue to get your messages posted in my e-mail, maybe the boys will see this and fix it.
9 months agoRobert it is because you commented on this awhile back so you get notified each time it is commented on
9 months agoThanks Adam, I wasn't sure what Robert was talking about...I hope that answers the question.
