That back lash...just causing troubles...so, my fight against it...:)))
I see there a little problem, you have slot in red gears and blue gears, so the pin will avoid any backlash improvement.
ok...look a red gear slot again...you will notice two holes different sizes, big one would allow radial movement along axis of rotation...and, any pair of red/blue has a same thing...
