analysis of the load

Goodnight.

I would like your help.
I develop metal displays (iron and sheet) for points of sale, and I would like to know how I can do an analysis of the load (of this part) on the sheet metal shelf of the exhibitor.

Thank you in advance for your time.

Accepted answer

1} Define basic geometry
a) unsupported length
b) width
c) cross section
- flat
- formed
2) Define loading/boundary conditions
a) point loads
b) distributed load
c) ends are simply supported
d) ends are fixed
3) Determine whether design controlled by stress or deflection
4) Calculate general stress and deflection charicteristics using long hand methods.
5) Revise thickness of shelf (if flat) or cross section to achieve acceptable levels of stress/deflection
6) Prepare model for Finite Element Analysis
7) Verify design

based on the limited amount of infrmation, the procedure suggested should result in a successful design. Be aware of the deflection in that in excess may lead to doubts in overall integrity even with non-yielding stresses
