  small tutorial
  (first of all, normally it is better to put solids in the body and surfaces in geom. sets. In lots of industry hybrid design is forbidden)

  1. Step 1

     edit the plane for the sketch

     

  2. Step 2

     use pocket: with up to surface and offset

     

  3. Step 3

     use pattern: complete crown, object is the pocket (!), reference is the inner surface of the solid

  maybe it's late but i want to help u if you didn't that yet .
  go step by step with that pictures in below
  always in your designs pay attention to the designTree.
  after these pic u can use" pocket "or "slot" to create the groove.
  have good work.
