Hello dear Grabcad users. I am quite new to 3d modelling using solidwork. Sorry if I sound like a beginner. I am given a task to complete at my workplace. I am a newly appointed r&d engineer.

I have to redesign an existing step file to two times bigger. I am having trouble finding the right buttons and tabs to edit the assembly part. Do you guys mind sharing something regarding this? Thank you and sorry.

Parts/assemblies when converted into step, it can't be edited/modify/change in Solidworks.

If the STEP file is opened in Solidworks and it shows part level separation in feature manager, then STEP file is required to be made for each component by deleting all other components except the one to be saved.

Afterwards, open each component file in Solidworks and use feature recognition tool to create a Solidworks replica of the STEP. Now, this file will contain all the features with their related drawings. From here, dip into sketch of a feature and can be resized anyway.

All the above process will work for simple models/assemblies but in case of complicated parts, feature recognition tool may not recognize any feature at all.

As a last resort, a part in Solidworks can be build by taking measurement from the STEP parts, feature by feature to recreate it in Solidworks.
