How can I edit IGS parts in solidworks?
I can move the piece to solidworks, but the format is just as imported and can not take any action.

You can attempt to use feature recognition, but you aren't going to get a tree based off of how it was actually built. An IGS is a "dumb" solid. It's not meant to be a modifiable part.
You can only add feature like holes, boss. That way you can edit it.
or you can try Feature Recognition as Kyle said. Most of time it fails but worth trying.
