how do i open a file in i downloaded from this site in solidworks 2012?
it was downloaded and extracted into .JPG format. I changed the extension to .SLDPRT format but i am getting an error(error not specified) whenever i try to open it. I have changed the format of the files back into jpg format and uploaded it here. If anybody could advise me on the steps i need to take it would be very much appreciated.

if you download a jpg it is just a picture. For solidworks, make sure you download a sldprt file or and IGES or STEP file. A few other formats you can also open but a JPG is not a 3D cad file.
First make sure the file you downloaded has .igs at the suffix.
Then run SolidWorks.
Select "open a document".
Click on the drop down toward the bottom of the dialogue box and select IGES
Now locate your file and click on open.
