How to import cloud points to CATIA V5?

Hello,
I know that i have to open the GSD_PointSplineLoftFromExcel.xls file from CATIA installation folder and proceed with the well-known procedure which exists on internet. Unfortunately , the file is an excel 1997-2003. I use excel 2003 viewer in order to open the file and after this i choose to edit it. when this happens i am being directed to my firstly installed excel(2016) which brings no positive result. So what should i do?
