Use Ccleaner!! often this tools helps you clean your instalations, temporary files, and disable startup programs

    1. Step 1

Clean up your registry, and temporary files often with CCleaner (Crap Cleaner) when installing a program windows records info about it on the registry and very often this info remains after you unistall it so they are making things slower but aren't being used at all!! http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/

    2. Step 2

Disable the most start up programs you can this will reduce the RAM usage on idle so you can use more of it when you really need it
Do you really use everything you have installed??

Foxit Reader has a free version too, it consumes less RAM and works even better that Adobe Reader
      1. you can add bookmarks to your PDF files even if you didnt create them!
      2. you can add comments to the Files

How to know if your PC is improving performance with these tips?? just take a look at your idle RAM and CPU usage before and after on the task manager

    1. Step 1

See how much RAM my pc needs just to run?? the lower this value the less you will need to force your components to the max! and less LAG!!!

    2. Step 2

If you're still not quite happy about the results you should disable some services

      Medium

    3. Step 3

Then a good start will be to check the automatic starting services and disable the ones you don't need you can put them in manual start so that when a program needs that service it can run it first

Unnecessary Windows Effects (Aero Glass) I know it looks great but it just consumes too much of your resources

    1. Step 1

go to perzonalize desktop dialog and change the color options, when there unselect the enable transparency checkbox (this is a mid point between Aero and basic Windows

      Medium

    2. Step 2

You can also remove some useless animations and effects from the windows interface in order to reduce the Idle RAM usage
go to system properties, performance and uncheck the most options you can!

Check out Black Viper for disabling services, he has been giving fantastic advice for years on streamlining PC performance,
I do not like registry cleaners, having had some bad experiences in the past, so I do it by hand. (Not for those unlearned, you can smash your system fast) but the main idea is
    1 BACK UP YOUR REGISTRY
2 run down programs disinstalled by name and editor name using search tools

What about one for advanced system care as well? I use that to clean out junk files from programs and things like that.. also i use the smart defrag 2 for the full feature which takes a while but it really helps.

A better task manager is supplied free on Microsoft : Process Explorer from Sysinternals, it replaces transparently the W$ tool, and stays nice in the taskbar. They have a suite of nifty tools for admin purposes, file and network

in windows 7, you can go to the tab Compatibility and check ''Disable Visual themes'' that way, the theme will be more light when you run your cad software
