SolidWorks Installation Error Featurestate

Hi,
I'm trying to install SolidWorks 2012 (64 bit),and when I run the installation manager, it gets to about 20% and then stops, with the error message "Internal error: The Windows Installer for this product component did not run as expected: FEATURESTATE." Attached is the message box that comes up. Any ideas what this is about or how to fix it?

Per Solution Id: S-052459 from SolidWorks Knowledge Base

To resolve this issue, please try to fully remove the existing installation of SolidWorks and install SolidWorks 2012 rather than try to upgrade the existing SolidWorks installation.
