Show off your skills and solve real design problems
KT Group is challenging you to develop a more fresh and innovative look for self service kiosk.
Please use the current design as a starting block to come up with a new design concept for them, but it should be in keeping with the features that are important.
PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL THE ENTRIES HAVE TO BE PRIVATE. SEE RULES AND PICTURES BELOW FOR MORE INFORMATION.
Manufacturing material is steel.
There must be access to the interior of the enclosure from the front.
There must be a monitor that is angled and mounted as it is shown, its the viewing angle that is important.
There must be advertising light box as like in the picture.
There should be wheels below on the base to easily move around.
In front of the monitor you will see a small ledge, this is so people can rest their arms while they're making their betting choices.
Only concept design is required, no manufacturing ready CAD files needed.
ONLY PRIVATE ENTRIES ARE ACCEPTED IN THE CHALLENGE. Send an e-mail to info@grabcad.com and request for an access to upload private models. Uploaded models must be shared with kaspar@grabcad.com, sara@grabcad.com and kenneth@kioskterminals.eu
Competition is open to everyone and you can submit several designs.
Team entries are welcome. In case of team win, prize money will be transferred to team leader who is solely responsible for splitting it among team members.
Only models uploaded to GrabCAD library through this challenge page will participate in the competition.
Tag your model with “kioskterminal”. Only entries with valid tag will participate!
Winning designs will be chosen based on the rules and requirements.
By entering this competition, you

Did kiosk must have a barbarian protect parts?
Angelo almost 13 years ago
how finished does this need to be? i understand that it doesnt need to be gully engineered, but is that a 10" screen or a 27" screen? its going to make a huge difference. can we have some CAD data of the internals...if not then dimensions of required components would be great, thanks :)
Mike Hancox almost 13 years ago
Hi, it mentions betting in the description but can you give more information to the context that this kiosk will be used in? Casino, betting shop, horseracing, fruit machines, pub quiz etc. thanks, mike
jura stok almost 13 years ago
Ufffff, another example of a perfect "customer". Low price and no clue what are the manufacturing requirements for this "KIOSK". Great. ...and all the private stuff?!prite.

...and the prizes are fabulous!

please post more dimensions: monitor size, ad-lightbox size, general height etc....
Kenneth Larsen almost 13 years ago
ATT ALL PARTICIPANTS -from Kenneth Judge 1. I noticed the posts.
1. We only want design for enclosure ideas, we do not require rendering with parts, components or options included but the monitor is 19 inch and for those who supply us with email adress we can send a PDF file. This is why we have not listed it and we also do not need mechanical engineering formats we are happy to receive these in ps, jpeg or eps file formats.
2. Concept is to be used for sports betting
3. The competition is to redesign and produce a fresh new look to the form metal structure design you see of the pictures added.
Jacek Koczmierowski almost 13 years ago
Can you share a larger photo of the current kiosk ?

A couple more questions for you!
If it's intended to be a betting machine, presumably it has to be robust / armoured?
I presume it also has to have a payment card / coin slot and cash-box access?
One of your kiosks looks as if it has a screen for people with restricted mobility / wheelchair users. Would this provision be advantageous?
Are the machine controls via touch-screen or buttons?
joost van tricht almost 13 years ago
do you have to design the interface too?
Kenneth Larsen almost 13 years ago
Ref - Lekiamadh we are looking for primarily design. The 3D would be nice to have fo visual purposes but our own team can do these as well. We are really looking for creation and innovation to redesign the concept we have shown to make it look allot more fresh and nowadays.
Kenneth Larsen almost 13 years ago
SimonR - Yes needs to be robust, sturdy and our engineers would evaluate that in the proposed designs we receive in the challenge as one of the aspects if we could manage that.
Yes it has card slot, coin slot and cash note slot and a printer slot and bar code scanner slot.
Mobility and wheelchair access has not been requested by our client, but if you see a way how to achieve could be interesting but i suspect it would be expensive to do and therefore most likely rejected from a financial aspect.
Machine is onluy controlled by touch screen
Kenneth Larsen almost 13 years ago
All requests done
Chris Schoener almost 13 years ago
Kenneth Larsen, why not just put this pdf and photos from Facebook on your profile here on Grabcad (as a project)? Then we can just get the files ourselves.
Kenneth Larsen almost 13 years ago
The PDF file uploaded to my profile for downloading.
Kenneth Larsen almost 13 years ago
see the above post, its available for download
Sara Sigel almost 13 years ago
Hi everyone. For your privacy and to protect you from spammers, I am removing all comments where you post your emails publicly. As @KennethLarsen stated, you can find the pdf in his profile for downloading.

Thank you @ChrisS for the suggestion!
Jacob Sims almost 13 years ago
where is the concept model download at
Sara Sigel almost 13 years ago
@Jacob, download here CUS-RB. I also added it to the challenge requirements as "Download Specification." I hope this makes things easier.
VARUN MISHRA almost 13 years ago
i can do it..
Mario Frechette almost 13 years ago
What are the sizes of the different components? If we had 2d or 3d files for the component, we could then better use the space in the kiosk shape and know what is required internally as space.
Maybe offer the 3d model of that pdf file would be good!
component, we could then better use the space in the kiosk shape.

IS THE KIOSK STRICTLY FOR PLACING BETS AND GAMBLING?
Ken Noble almost 13 years ago
I agree with Mario. Component dimensions or 3D blocks would help significantly. Jesse has a good question too, is it for gambling only? Is it to be used indoors and outdoors? Is personal privacy an issue?
Aref A almost 13 years ago
Guys, they just want a concept design. It doesn't have to be dimension exact.
Kenneth Larsen almost 13 years ago
This is strictly for sports betting, mainly horses and football.
It s for a indoor retail locations, no outdoor or unattended areas

I modelled the Kiosk in autodesk 3ds max.. I could not convert it to IGES or STEP Versions.. Can I just upload the jpeg files along with .max file??
Kenneth Larsen almost 13 years ago
JPEG Works for me
Harrell Holloway almost 13 years ago
Is this design specifically for gambling purposes such as lottery ticket purchase?
Harrell Holloway almost 13 years ago
Nevermind. Been answered i see.
ajay almost 13 years ago
we should surface modeling or solid modeling to design this model
Aref A almost 13 years ago
They want an enclosure design A.K.A housing design. You're free to take any approach, Ajay.
Marek Rybacki almost 13 years ago
I don't understand.
One requirement is:
'Only concept design is required, no manufacturing ready CAD files needed.'
but one rule is:
'Models can be done in any CAD software as long as a STEP or IGES files are also uploaded. Please include also rendering'
So STEP/IGES files are needed or not? It should be specified. on the begining.
Aref A almost 13 years ago
Hi, Marek. You need to upload either STEP OR IGES files + OPTIONAL upload of native CAD files.
Ajay Agrawal almost 13 years ago
should I upload all files used for making this or just final product file.?
Aref A almost 13 years ago
Hi, Ajay. Just final product file. Read the requirements and rules.
Aleksandar Lazovic almost 13 years ago
Hello! Does it (our model) need to have all that feature - printer, scanner, etc.? Or we can simplify ?
AIT OUFKIR YASSINE almost 13 years ago
Hello, i requested for an access to upload private models. before more than 4days, but the email info@grabcad.com, didn't send me back, i asked also Sara, but no answer :( ??
Isn't a Competition open to everyone ??
Sara Sigel almost 13 years ago
@AIT You have access now. I apologize for the delay. This Challenge is definitely open to the entire GrabCAD community. Thanks for participating!
Shabab Hussain almost 13 years ago
Hi! E-mailed and PM'd but still no access! Please hurry Sara! Thanks :D
Sara Sigel almost 13 years ago
@Shabab You should have access. Also all entries should be sure to add the judges as collaborators. See "Rules" for details.
Ayush Rai almost 13 years ago
how do i make my entry private
????
i ve uploaded my files though i have nt made it private
Ridwan Sept almost 13 years ago
A few minute ago I upload my private model and i add "kaspar@grabcad.com, sara@grabcad.com and kenneth@kioskterminals.eu" as collaborator. But that's not the problem, the problem is before I upload my model, the number of entries is 82, and after i finished upload my model, the number of entries still 82. Why the number of entries not be 83 after i uploaded my private model?
Aref A almost 13 years ago
@Ridwan Septyawan Probably passed deadline's last time zone.
Sara Sigel almost 13 years ago
I updated the entries, they should now include all that entered. If you did not submit it privately, I gave you access after I switched it over and I added the judges as collaborators to your submission. Please check to make sure kaspar@grabcad.com, sara@grabcad.com and kenneth@kioskterminals.eu are all "Collaborators" in your entries so that they will be viewable to the judges. Thank you for participating!
Peter almost 13 years ago
Good contest for a beginner! Good luck to all and Happy Holidays!
Branko Stokuca over 12 years ago
Sara, none of my projects has a collaborator. Can you check that? Thank you in advance.
Sara Sigel over 12 years ago
@Branko, send me a private message with your project links and I will help you.
teigan over 12 years ago
is there an easy way to verify we are entered? there is still no download activity from my collaborators. - just curious.
Peter over 12 years ago
I believe as long ans you can see your entry in the beta tabe by you account and it is tagged correctly you are food. I have also not had any downloads.
Aref A over 12 years ago
Peter's right.
Ridwan Sept over 12 years ago
We can wait until January 21, 2013. I believe it
Ridwan Sept over 12 years ago
What's wrong here? my files are not downloaded yet.
Peter over 12 years ago
Perhaps because of the number of entrys they are only looking at the renderings and will upload the models at a later date if they need?
teigan over 12 years ago
i have a movie file too, yet still no downloads. i guess it just isn't noticeable enough amongst the slew of entries. i should have posed a naked girl next to my kiosk
Branko Stokuca over 12 years ago
I have three designs uploaded and none of them is downloaded. Don't worry people, I am sure they have a good reason for everything.
Ridwan Sept over 12 years ago
any news?
Aref A over 12 years ago
results?
Peter Saly over 12 years ago
Who are the winners?
Peter over 12 years ago
I think it is a safe bet to say that we all won and that they are just taking some time to contact us all :P
Peter over 12 years ago
$12.25 and 3/46 of a mug to everyone!
Peter Saly over 12 years ago
Awesome :D
Peter Saly over 12 years ago
We also can use one cup all together :D
Sara Sigel over 12 years ago
Very democratic solution :) Winners have been selected! Due to the wishes of the sponsor, we will be keeping results private. I know this is tough as we all want to see who won. Thank you for respecting their wishes to keep all work private. We will contact all winners by the end of January. If you have any questions, contact catherine@grabcad.com.
Branko Stokuca over 12 years ago
:))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
Aref A over 12 years ago
By the end of January ? That's a week from now . I would like to share my projects with everyone February onwords.
Er over 12 years ago
Did you contact the winners already?
Can you at least publish the names of the winners so we'll know someone won?
Ayush Rai over 12 years ago
these contests seem to be fake if the winners are not declared .... :P
Mahender CH over 12 years ago
@ Ayush Rai.. They will declare.. Have patience..
teigan over 12 years ago
with the exception of the winners, there is nothing ethically or legally binding us to keep our projects private once the contest ends. so at least we can at last benefit from the entertainment and inspiration of viewing each other's work. before going public, make sure you first remove any mention of KT group or use of their logo. share and enjoy.
Aref A over 12 years ago
Teigan is right. We can all go public with our own designs. With the exception of the winners, of course.
Aref A over 12 years ago
I'm going public on the 1 FEB 2013.
Sara Sigel over 12 years ago
Winners have been contacted. Congratulations! Thank you for participating and for all your hard work. Please keep all entries private out of respect for the sponsor and as a sign that our Community is professional and trustworthy.
Dwi Prabowo over 12 years ago
That's good idea, collect Idea with private entries. God know you have rich with idea
Aref A over 12 years ago
I will make my submission Publico ...real soon.
Er over 12 years ago
At least publish the names so we'll someone won..
Last time i'm participating in private competitiov
Branko Stokuca over 12 years ago
These private challenges are extremely tricky. The client can easily see all the uploaded models, than someone from his own company uses this insight and makes a model similar to the model that he likes. This "someone" log's in GC under the fake name and he wins the prize. This way the money stays in the "house". Can GC staff guarantee that this doesn't happen?
Ajay Agrawal over 12 years ago
@branko you are right this look like fake they din't money to anyone..!!
Ajay Agrawal over 12 years ago
so why they don't announce their name..at least..?
Sara Sigel over 12 years ago
Someone has won, they have been contacted! I am sorry that we cannot share in their success. Employees from the sponsor company are not elligible to win.
Aref A over 12 years ago
Actually, I have always known that private challenges like this can be dodgy....nevertheless, users/designers have the right to publish their work publicly. After all, it belongs to the designer regardless of the design.
Branko Stokuca over 12 years ago
@Sara Sigel. How can you guarantee that no one from the employees company entered the challenge?
Shabab Hussain over 12 years ago
Forgetting the prize for a second. The bigger crime here by GC is totally missing the WHOLE POINT of a community. If we cannot see the winning design, or share our hard work, or even get to know what made the winners the winners HOW ARE WE TO BENEFIT FROM ANY OF THIS FREE WORK WE ARE DOING? Total let down in this area GC. Websites, specially like GC, which rely on the MEMBERS hardwork and the MEMBERS expertise to create a community should listen to and respond first and foremost to the COMMUNITY and to its USERS. This entire website could be internet history with a few bad word of mouths, let alone 80 something.
Redeem yourself GC, let KT terminals know and lets all celebrate the winning design with kudos and admiration LIKE A COMMUNITY SHOULD.
Dragan Beljan over 12 years ago
I do not understand why the winner does not declare.
Sara Sigel over 12 years ago
I'm sorry we let you down @Shabab. This is something we can work to fix in the future. You are right, we want to put members first.
Andrew Phil over 12 years ago
I think, "KioskTerminals" needs some days (or weeks, or months) to register new design trademarks) All this time entries can be private.
