Show off your skills and solve real design problems
GrabCAD is taking further steps to give as much feedback to the engineers as possible. We are glad to announce that the winners for Supercar Body Challenge will be chosen based on this competition by GrabCAD community. Also don't forget to "like" your favorites.
All the participants in this challenge need to write maximum of 50 words feedback to not less than 75% of all the entries in Supercar Body Challenge.
It can be inspired by anything. Feel free to share your comments and what you like about the model and what not. Don't forget to point out the things that can be improved and give hints how you would have designed it.
The aim is to give as much feedback as possible and make sure people can learn something new participating in the challenge.
Hopefully it will encourage younger and less experienced engineers to participate in the competition as well. It is all about learning.

You need to give feedback to the entries.

the looks stunning, especially the door and the brake calipers.
But could have been much better, especially the top. Instead having a open top could have used the front glass extended till rear. The car bonnet and head laps are not good looking, instead could have used a some mesh at the lower end of the bonnet and some LED sleek head lamps.
I also don't see any side mirrors, do add them over the front wheel bonnet hoop. Coming to the rear end the spoiler is support (V shaped) could have been made with inverted V shaped. This gives better look and stability.

At first glance something looks out of perspective. The sharp, strait lines of the front end contrast too roughly with the nice smooth flowing lines of the mid and rear section. The dome on the bonnet cut’s down into the bonnet to fast. It creates a sharp cutting look that doesn’t fit. The rear wing looks to thin and strait. It will be nice if you can use those beautiful curves from the side and rear. The wing supports must be changed to a || shape or A.

at first the car body looks great. however their is a lot of room for improvement. the first thing i would change is the front end, the pannels on the side of the bumper are too streight. also the hood is too flat and it looks like the dome on top of it is just stuck on to it. another thing that realy stood out is the roll cage, it is kind of ugly the way that it sticks out above the wind sheld in the front. the rear portion of the roll cage is ok. i realy like the wheels. if i was designing this car i would definetly change the head lights, maby lay them into the front fenders? right now it looks like the designer forgot head lights and at the last minut just droped them in sown there. i like the spoiler except for the way that it is so flat, and the supports. the curves of the back half of the car are so nice but the spoiler totaly ruins the look. also the suports dont look like they match, i like the V shape but maby curve them? also the suports dont look very strong, this looks like a car that could go fast and the spoiler would probably just fall off if it was built like that. the pice of the front that holds the licens plate also has the problem of being too square. the square parts just dont fit in and completly ruin the look. at the back the bumper aria curves up, i like that it curves up but it curves way too quick. if it were to be abit lower i think the rear bumper would be much more atractive. once all of that is changed i believe the brakes should be changed, the rotors look the right size but they are not sloted very well. the calipers look way to small, maby upgrade to a biger caliper. some thing that might be considered could be in line brakes, basicly just move the rotors to the inside of the A arms. this will give a better center of gravity and decreas unsprung weight, however lots of people dont think it looks as good. in the end i think that it is a good start to a car design but there is lots of room for improvement.

Good design but i must say have some unacceptable parts, for example front hood has no harmony with other parts and front bumper more look like a Ferrari Enzo rear bumper,I cant guess Stability in high speed and corners so where is front lip (Air diffuser) ,where is wind (drag) analyze ,where is chassis analyze ,where is accident analyze ,need count many factors , So I cant accept this design without analyze result sheet a well sport car.however ,Wheels and side doors i like.
Emil Pop about 12 years ago
Nice try, but lack of manufacturability realism.
The front of the car would create problems of stability at high speed and under rain, must be re engineered, the front fenders end up in a sharp like piece of metal sheet (or plastic) that shall whistle under speed, induce vibrations in the fenders, allow mud and dirty rain water to splash around in a cloud of vortex that will end up rendering visibility on the side windows and laterals of the windshield impossible when it rains.
The front hood doesn't really fit the rest of the design.
The rear fenders are going to create a nasty lift effect and strong turbulence that is going to end up in the deporting wing area.
For the rest the car is a nice model, but producing it would cost an eye and a kidney.

I encourage you all to comment the entries on Supercar Body Challenge contest: http://grabcad.com/challenges/supercar-body-challenge/entries This is the actual part of the competition (not the picture above).

Its kinda funny to read all the commments here on the prototype look that the 500 group gave us. But how people cant first read the description before they do a really long feedback is beyond me. On the cars in the challenge itself there isnt much feedback at all at the moment. Maybe there should be a better view of the current challenges on the www.grabcad.com/home site so when people look at the new models and stuff they also see information and news about the challenges and other grabcad related stuff. Just my 5 cents.

Supercar Body Feedback Challenge is still running and you are ok to give feedback to all the entries to win prizes.
Veleckovik Design about 12 years ago
So, all we need to do is head over to the entries and start giving feedback? No need of tagging the comments or categorizing them in any way, right?
Kaspar Kiis about 12 years ago
No need to tag the comments. 500 Group will go all the comments through and pick the top 12 engineers giving best feedback.
Veleckovik Design about 12 years ago
Ok, thanks for your reply!

Hi Kaspar, to add to some of the comments being made about voting/commenting, with the CAD part of the challenge completed, there's not a lot of tabs or way-finding to view the entries. I've contacted worldcarfans.com, autoblog.com and carbodydesign to do a piece on the contest to get more traffic here and it may be confusing as all they'll see is the image of the car above. Is there some more tabs that can be added to the top of this page like 'View Entries'? I hate to be a critic, just my thoughts and again great competition. Thanks Kaspar.
Marius Flitar about 12 years ago
Honestly at this moment the like top shows some non values with many friends...I don't want to be misunderstood ,I admire the effort of each and everyone participating at this interesting competition but the hierarchy in this moment is VERY disappointing .
Kaspar Kiis about 12 years ago
@Darren Thank you for the feedback, it is much appreciated. I added one more link in the competition description. That should draw more attention to the entries.
