I imagine writing the slicer for this sort of printing would be the hardest part. Not sure why the student chose what looks like a stewart platform for his print surface, it seems unnecessarily complicated for the task. I really like the idea Pumpkinhead3d, definitely something worth exploring.
I agree! The software is the hardest part in any solution of mobile bed.
Other advantage is the possibility of orientate the layers changing the strength of the print
I have looked into building one like that, its not to complicated but the slicing is definatly the killer. But a software engineer could totaly do it. You could hand do all the concept g-code.
