hello. im newly starting designer, i came to know that windchill in creo is an added advantage in creo user/designer.
im practicing creo over university licence, can you get me an idea of knowing about windchill,
because windchill is like sap , only industries use. my perception is that , there will be a moc tool or a crack....
Hello.
My experience with Windchill is not good.
It is extremely non user friendly, has a clumsy user interface, not at all intuitive, overly complex and frustrating.
I am glad my employer no longer utilizes it, and if I never use it again, it will be too soon.
Thank you.
Windchill is a PDM (Product Data Management) system and we've been using it ever since. To me personally, its quite an effective tool to manage your cad files. Is there any specific things about windchill you'd like to know?
how to get used to it..
how to work with windchill, im new to creo , learning personally over a STUDENTS VERSION,
how to learn windchill..
then if there are some place where i get free training for expertizing my modelling skills.
like guiding me in using the part/surface modelling tools and drawings for practide.
currently im looking over youtube, and im unable to work handson.
THEN what PDM can i learn
Not sure if PDM is integrated into the student version, is it? I tried using student version and just managed my files locally.
Windchill is not included with the student version.
Most companies deploy Windchill incorrectly which explains the frustration of people like Denny. Most companies fail to train their users properly and serve them up the standard one size fits all user interface without using Profiles to limit the functionality to what they need or use the ThingWorx Navigate apps, which really are a dream to use.
It's really hard to learn in advance as companies also tend to customize the workflows, so if you learn the out-of-the-box ways to do things, you often have to re-learn at whatever company you go to.
yes mr.martin , i got those words engraving in my brain. and it seems authentic answer
Funny story... since I posted my response, I was able to get a personal Windchill instance up and running. So I started making videos on using Windchill. Here is an initial top-level overview (lecture only):
This one covers registering the server and creating a workspace:
I have a couple more practical videos dropping this week on CAD data management tasks. Be sure to subscribe and ring the bell to be informed when new videos are uploaded.
Denny, I'm sorry for your bad experience with Windchill. I feel like you were really let down by your company and administrators. With the right training, processes, and configuration, Windchill can be an extremely powerful design tool. Unfortunately I've seen far too many companies screw up their implementation, resulting in unsatisfied users like you.
well said mr.dave.
im from india, hear there is a trend that companies atent eilling to technically educate or support heir employees,
they need a person who will be rightaway start executing the tasksfrom the day of his apponment.
these people must get trained by themself through training centers and other resources.
which becomes impossible for many people , as the cost for training is too high.
and none knows which cource to choose for learning a tool in a newsoftware in the industry..
and none will affore suddenlt 600$$ i;e 52,000 INR for course.
basically the basic pay for a fresher engineer is around some 9000 to 18000 in most of the cases except some MNC'S
so if the companies choose to educate the cmployee, employee wont leave the company. company will get an already experienced worker technically more strong
a two way gain..................................
That's actually not too different from the situation in the US. Most companies want people who are already skilled and won't pay to train them.
There's another bad problem in the US where job descriptions are written for unicorns. I want someone with a master's degree, 10 years experience, expert CAD & PLM, knows FEA & CFD, computer programming, management experience, Secret clearance, and has an export control license. They're never going to find that person. If they find someone close, they would be overqualified for the position and want much more money than the company offers. When I see job descriptions like that, I know they're really trying to get one person to do the job of three.
There's an old joke. Two managers are arguing about whether to train their employees in new skills. The first one asks, "What if we train them and they leave?" The second one asks, "What if we don't train them and they stay?"
yes well said mr.dave,
the scenario is ok if its a mediocher industry, but im talking about
cognizant
tata consultancy
harley davidson
tvs motors
boeing
hear my friends are working, they say these storries to me.
i did my B.E in Aeronautical engineering and passed out on 2014 & IT Ttook me an other year to clear over my backlogs.., they all secured a job.
i"m not a bright student so i didnt get a job.
so went into agriculture, ("my family trade")
but after 6 years im feeling like i need to do something prudent and skillful in the next phase...
