Can a pro FEM user evaluate a 3D surfaces iges model for calculation?

Background, been doing math modeling and CNC for 50yrs, never done FEM, only CNC.

Can the detailed, splined, curved, filleted, surfaced models used for CNC and 3DPrint be directly input to a fem modeler? or stripped to simple elements?

I have a structured guitar neck to analyze and compare to the physical model and a soundboard too.

I have been curious how FEM simulation works since i heard the nastran guys once long ago when we were doing the Space Shuttle NC with fortran and punched cards.

They calculated, we built actual parts.

The "old " system works well in generating splines and conics with total control. Yeah nurbs and B-rep work, this is what I prefer.

Just another basic lofting exercise. Wing / Fin for an example of surfacing of foils, Splines and Conics basic four wire and three wire surfaces.. Another fin is the "trueline" (search it)
