Hello, I am working as a design engineer with my company and am pretty new with creating 3D models and drawings on NX. As I progress, my skills my modeling has significantly improved and now I am thinking about a less engineering use for NX and rendering some of my models with more surface detail i.e. dirt, grime, and texture. Is there a way to do this within NX or would I have to port to another software? If you could help me out by linking a tutorial or instructions I'd appreciate it! (NX v12).
I recommend Keyshot for rendering. It is user friendly and has a lot of options for beginners. You can also try to convert to Maya, but I think it is a little more complex.
I've heard great things about Maya! So there is no way to do that in native NX?
I also would recommend Keyshot. And if you have the option for a keyshot plugin in NX itself.
Then you have the option for realtime changes direct in yr keyshot model.
I used PTC creo and that worked perfect.
NX is extremely limited in this type of artistic rendering. Keyshot is great if you can afford it, and a bit more straight forward than using something like Blender... but Blender is plenty capable with the right plug-ins.
