3b sketch to create a solid model here, I followed the path to shape the shape of the rib, but does not recognize the rib sketch extruded process does not recognize the sketch is not doing the reason?
I made a sketch with composite curve but the problem is exactly the same
surface extruded process I tried to find a solution how the room was not?
that slot kind cutout can be done in the top sketch itself. If you upload 3d model, I will correct it. THank you
You can't extrude a 3d sketch. Extrude the surface from a 2d profile sketch and trim it to correct geometry with 2d sketches and the bottom face, then thicken to solid body.
I drew a profile from above and cut the figure from this profile
but I wanted to find out if there are other ways I can do otherwise
I don't remember which year it was added, but 3D sketches can be extruded now.
I have yet to find a good use, but I was pretty surprised the first time I saw the extrude button was available with a 3D sketch.
I think it was this model that I tried to use it on for the first time: https://grabcad.com/library/spartan-helmet-remake-1
Yup.
I would not suggest making this feature with a 3D sketch, I just wanted to mention that 3D sketches can be extruded now.
Normal, 2D sketches are much easier to work with, and should be used for planar objects like the ribs inside of this model.
I can't tell from the first image above how, or if that little bump out connects again to the main rib.
I think the easiest manner to make this would be by making another rib (with the rib tool), then trimming away the undesired parts.
If you post a sample model with some of this geometry in it, we can try different things. I don't have time tonight to try and recreate all the base features to get to a testing point for the rib.
Okay, yes you can extrude some 3d sketches in some directions, but it is not a robust approach because of the high risk of failure. The 3d sketch shown above has 3 orthogonal sections that will fail due to self-intersection when extruded along any of the major axes, and those are the axes that you want the geometry to follow here...
I agree that trying to extrude the proposed 3D sketch would be a disaster. I only pointed out the possibility of now extruding a 3D sketch for completeness. I had not heard of such capability until I encountered the above mentioned helmet.
I made this example tonight as a test. It seems to work well. I think your method of extruding will work well too. I only used the rib tool since it looks like everything in the model will have draft for injection molding.
Thanks for your time. Thank you very much. The process was to improve the technique, not to do so much thought.
thank you for taking the time to show me the truth
