Animating a cad model
hey guys and gals
Main program i use is solidworks. lately my employer asked me to create animations with solidworks.
I know how it works a bit for small objects and movements with only a few parts but in this case, its an entire logistic system that has a length of aprox. 30 meters.
i tried it with solidworks but it requiers huge amount of micro management of mates. it also puts alot of strain on the computer so, making mistakes costs alot of time.
so my question is:
is there a simple way or a particular program for animating large amounts of parts efficiently?

I know many professional animators use Cinema 4D - never used it myself. I have a lot of experience animating SolidWorks model, maybe I can be of assistance. Could you show us the logistic system and describe what it should show in the animation?
Hi Tom,
i would love to share the model but unfortunately, its confidential. the problem i have animating is as follows:
think of a linair train rail with a wagon mated on it from its wheels. This wagon travels a certain distance and after that certain distance, it has to switch to an other
perpendicular rail which then travels to an other rail that brings the wagon to its starting point.
the problem i have is that, if i mate the wagon on one of the rails, i cant break or create a new mate without solidworks asking for a new starting point on the animation.
so basically, i want to control the wagon without having to put on mates that bind the wagon on a single rail. i thaught exploded view would do the trick but unfortunately, it doesnt record movements from it.
