Looking to create a 'random' pattern I can then project onto a rings outer surface.
Have done formal looking ones - see pic

I've been out of touch for a while now but I think you can do this by creating points in a 3D sketch then using them to create 'Sketch driven pattern', of course the points have to be on the rings outer surface.

Hi, I'm a newbie here but I might be able to help. If you have, or can convert your ring models to .stl or obj. format, and include or point to ang jpegs of what find of texture you would like on your models' surface...I can make textures and flow them onto your models and mill them in wax if you want me to.

if this is for inventor, you can use the spline tool to create a random pattern and then use rectangular pattern on the start point, your direction will be the spline
