Is there a way to create a solid from a .stl file

Paid fusion subscriptions have the prismatic convert tool that works great for this. I recommend using the reconstruct mesh tool first though because this makes the convert mesh tool work much smoother and have more accurate results.
get MESHLAB program ( its free ) from autodesk.
