Is there a FEA application out there for under $200 US or is that wishful thinking?
Looking for a Finite Element Analysis tool that is more cost effective than the major players like Dassault Systems or AutoDesk. Thanks in advance for the info.

You could consider taking a look into FreeCAD.
As the name implies, its free of cost and there are quite a bit of tutorials available online that should be able to get your project kick started.
Seen some FEA sims on FreeCAD online. I dont know what the quality of the sims will be, though it does appear fairly decent, given the costs associated.
