Solidworks Thread Rendering

As far as I know, there are 2 ways to model threads in SolidWorks:
1. Sweep cutting along a helix curve using a triangular shape.
2. Using cosmetic thread for more technically accurate design.

For method 1, the "thread" will obviously show on the rendered result.
But for method 2, I agree that when you are in design environment, the thread should stay cosmetic and shaded to reduce PC load. However, when I render my models, I need them to be as realistic as possible.

What can I do about this?

Well, there is a solution to your problem.
First of all, it depends on what library you are using for your fasteners.
I am using my own library and using method ~ 2 (I don't even put the cosmetic thread to reduce even more the PC load).
Solution:
1. There is a command called Thread that allows you to create a thread to standard, ISO/ANSI.
If you have your own fastener library then you can modify the faster to have this option and suppress it, and use it when it is necessary for rendering.

2. If you are using the hated (by me) feature called toolbox then you have the option to use a schematic thread, it looks almost like a real thread, and you can change it by redefining the screw in the options if you want to remove the PC load when you are not rendering.

3. Download the models for the screws that you need from bossard or other sites like fastnerEU/fabory/mcmaster.

My prefered solution is number 1.
Always use your own library and create the screws that you need so you can modify them as needed.

Least prefered solution is number 3.
Just takes to long to find and download all the models that you need.
