Hi! I'm a beginner crafter. I've downloaded an .stl file (water bottle) but how do I separate the parts? The lid from the bottle? Thank you

You simply downloaded one file so in Tinkercad you cannot actually separate them into two separate shapes. What you could if you wanted to physically separate them is insert a very thin rectangular Hole between the two things you want to separate so that in physical space, they would be separated.
