Basic overview video regarding geometrical shapes available within Imagine and Shape Workbench
-
Step 1: Basic primitives
To create and edit geometrical shapes in the Imagine & Shape workbench in CATIA V5, you can use the following steps:
Creating a geometrical shape
- Open the Imagine & Shape workbench.
- Click the Create button on the toolbar.
- Select the type of geometrical shape you want to create from the list.
- Click in the 3D view to define the first point of the shape.
- Continue clicking to define the remaining points of the shape.
- Press Enter to finish creating the shape.
Editing a geometrical shape
- Select the geometrical shape you want to edit.
- Click the Edit button on the toolbar.
- Select the type of operation you want to perform on the shape from the list.
- Depending on the operation you select, you may need to specify additional parameters.
- Click OK to perform the operation.
Here are some specific examples of how to create and edit geometrical shapes in the Imagine & Shape workbench:
Creating a plane
- Click the Create button on the toolbar.
- Select Plane from the list.
- Click in the 3D view to define the first point of the plane.
- Click again to define the second point of the plane.
- Click a third time to define the normal vector to the plane.
- Press Enter to finish creating the plane.
Editing a plane
- Select the plane you want to edit.
- Click the Edit button on the toolbar.
- Select Translate from the list.
- Specify the new position of the plane.
- Click OK to translate the plane.
Creating a sphere
- Click the Create button on the toolbar.
- Select Sphere from the list.
- Click in the 3D view to define the center of the sphere.
- Specify the radius of the sphere.
- Press Enter to finish creating the sphere.
Editing a sphere
