Inverse engineering for a eolian propeller

Small

This tutorial shows you how to make a eolian propeller in the Generative Shape Design from Catia V5, using images projected on parallel planes.

  1. Step 1: Create the sections

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EycaXt1uqhA

In order to create the sections you need to make several parallel planes, in which you are going to make a rectangle and a surface with the Fill command. After that you can insert the image with the contour of a section and position it, as you can see in the video above.

  2. Step 2: Make the guide lines

After you copied the contours with a spline, you can then make two or more guide line, in order to create the multi section surface.

  3. Step 3: Create the tip of the blade

You can create the tip of the blade in more ways. I chose to extrude two perpendicular profiles and then trim them.

  4. Step 4: Unite the surfaces

In the end you can unite the surfaces with the Join command and then you can fill the surface with a material, in the Part module.
