Making "Continuous Rectangle Table Base" with help of 2D sketches only.
Material : Sq. Tube (mm) 25*25*2thk.
Overall Dimension (mm) : 1000*500*400

  1. Step 1: Starting our Model.

Open your 3D software. Start 2D sketch.

  2. Step 2: Starting with Base Profile.

Draw an open sketch as shown in picture.

Create a new plane "Normal to curve - at a point"

Draw raw material cross section at new plane. In my case I am modelling this using section of 25*25*2thlk. steel tube.

Use Sweep command to create our 1st profile.

Cut the profile at 45° as shown in above image.

With this our 1st profile is done.

  3. Step 3: Modeling Next profiles.

Start the next sketch at point of earlier profile as shown above. Dimension at this point need to be calculated for gap. For this project I am using dimensions above.

    Follow the earlier procedure of ;

    • Create a new plane "Normal to curve - at a point"
    • Draw raw material cross section at new plane.
    • Using Sweep command to generate profile.
    • Cut the ends of new profile at 45° as shown above.

Follow the same procedure for all elements till rectangle is completed as shown below.

I have used colors to identify 6 different profiles so it can be easy to understand.

  4. Step 4: Checking Overall Dimensions

After completing the model. I just ensured if I have modeled my job with the dimensions I have decided. As you can see above, Overall dimensions perfect. The gap is uniform at where it is present.

Though I modeled it with multiple errors while creating each profile. The gap was more at some section. Profile is length out of box dimensions. But finally I managed to get is perfect.

This is final render I have created using keyshot. The 3D .step file is uploaded on my profile. You can check it out there also.

    # There is another project I have made for similar work, though it uses 3D sketch and complete table is created in single SWEEP command.

Below is picture of same for your reference.

    Thank You...
