Modeling Sonja's Table

This is a simple tutorial on how to model our "Table Sonja" in 3D.
You can find the 3D files here:
Table Sonja
We hope you enjoy this tutorial and that you learn a little more about SW modeling.

  1. Step 1: Let's start with the legs...

As you know, we should start with good sketches...

  2. Step 2: Filleting & Patterning Legs...

  3. Step 3: Small Disc under the Top...

And some explanation on why do not merge in this case...

  4. Step 4: Modeling the Top of the Table...

And also filleting and chamfering (beveled top)...

  5. Step 5: Sliders for our table...

OK. a table without rubber or plastic sliders could cause a mess, or scratch the floor! ...

  6. Step 6: Playing with Appearances...

In SolidWorks you can change the appearance of objects (surfaces, faces, solids, etc.) and make them appear closer to reality. Or just make them stand out more, and our model look much better ...

  7. Step 7: Some Rendering...

SolidWorks has a very good native renderer. But you can also use packages designed exclusively for that job. Anyway, nowadays knowing how to render is vital for many reasons.
