Make 2020 Aluminum Frame from Weldments

The key to this tutorial is the downloaded example. To make any 3D frame from 2020 aluminum extrusions, this is the workflow to make it. This tutorial retraces my steps to set up the profile files necessary and build a 3D sketch, then use weldments to form a custom frame design. After you learn this, any frame design is easy! This tutorial is made for users with basic solidworks experience - you maybe new to 3D sketches and to weldments. I'm just publishing this simple example and the tutorial is intended as a self-paced discovery. [Purpose] The purpose of using weldments is to capture the benefits that include: ► long beams automatically form to the desired cut length. ► miters are available, or straight cuts. ► planning the frame, adjusting the shape, and visualizing is done together. ► automatically compute the materials needed to order & cut. ► if designer chooses a new frame material, you can choose a new profile & recompute ► all of the geometry is made from one simple sketch, inside the profile, that you control.
