Thanks to everyone who participated! It's been a great process so far for the jury and we hope you all feel as inspired and excited as we do. The entries are all very inventive and have us all talking about 3D printing possibilities and design. We believe these entries are the best solutions for an IDSA 2014 Northeast Conference 3D Printable Lapel Pin.
After we printed the top 15 finalists, we looked at each one in-depth for 3D printing results, fit for the IDSA conference, design and creativity. In the end, we had GREAT results for the conference and really love all the entries (we wish we could print them all!)
Very clever concept - clean and integrated. It prints clean, simple, and was the best overall design. The IDSA logo printed well, without any issues and the clip is even flexible enough when printed to clasp onto jeans or a shirt.

Sophisticated and contemporary, well done! Printed without any issues on an SLS printer. We really love the design story and clean style for this design.

Cool, classy design! Prints well. It looks clean and modern. The grid/network on the right is great. The pin isn't the best clasping ideas in the group.

Excellent work and simple design! We like the pendant style and interesting composition. It printed great and was one of the more creative designs. It didn't follow the IDSA guidelines as well as the other designs.

Simple and clear! It communicates well and has a beautiful design. Printed fine on an SLS printer. We love the simplicity and integrated clip. It's less creative than the other entries.

Nice way to make different faces and has a modern look. Printed fine on an SLS printer. We do like simplicity of the overall design. It's clean, nice looking, and the letter spaces are included on the back panel.

Interesting idea and color. We think it is fun and creative to use a subway theme and numbers. The simple clip is appealing and it printed fine although the letters could have had greater definition.

We like the look of this cool design. It printed well on an SLS printer. It wasn't as creative as the other entries. And other designs had more impact or simplicity.

Simple, clean, good looking and nice color. Printed okay in single color. We'd like to see the clip part go across the whole back instead of just partial. Is that the Makerbot, ""m"" hiding in the details? Very fun!

This design is cool. It printed okay on the Makerbot; it could have had better surface design and needed cleanup. The design is creative but wasn't a fit for the IDSA brand.

Nice design, we really like the digital-looking US map. It printed well in single color but the back clip wouldn't be usable like the others.

We like how thorough he explained his design thinking. It's creative but was not as well-designed as other entries. It printed okay on an SLS printer.

This design is interesting. We needed to print this in multiple parts and colors, which hurt the 3D printing score. It is cool to have a moving mechanism but a simpler design would be better. It really showed off the IDSA Northeast slogan but it's literal design affected the creativity score.

It has potential and we like how it incorporated both IDSA and Makerbot into the design. It didn't follow IDSA branding guidelines, which could easily be changed by switching the orientation of the clip. The multiple colors and sharper angles made this the least printer friendly of the top designs.

Interesting clasp and design. We liked it a lot and gave it a test print, but It failed to print on the Makerbot. We'd recommend an SLS print next time.

Wait! There are even more amazing entries that we want to recognize for their creativity and hard work. Check out each honorable mention to see how amazing GrabCADrs truly are.
The green one has a lot of potential, a small change to the gap (under the overhang) would make this easier to print. Great design thinking! We love the idea of breaking through for the IDSA Northeast 2014 Conference.
Cool theme! It would need to print in multiple pieces to get the color effects.
We think the organic section is a cool idea to support the build. Cool concept!
Nice work and a cool design! It is over the top for the lapel pin but comes complete with metal and 3D printable hinges - it's a must see. Don't miss the other #David entry, IDSA Lapel Pin Design, too.
Nice, simple design with a cute character. We like that it converts to a keychain, but aren't sure we believe the bottle opener part! The back clip base would need to be separate piece to keep the print clean.
We think you'll like this simple and to the point design by Greg!
Well presented and every surface is a challenge for your 3D printer - we like the ambition despite our limitations for this Challenge!
