And the winners are...

Thanks to everyone who participated in this tough Challenge! Novative Designs looked in-depth at each requirement category and produced parts for the two top designs. Check the models for pictures of the produced parts! They are likely to produce and test a few more designs, as well. Stay tuned here for updates in the future. They were impressed with all of your designs and are excited to move the process forward! You can expect their final product to combine the best all of the winning entries.

Stabilizer Leg Suspension v2 by hevi

Stabilizer Leg Suspension v2

Nice and simple design! We built and tested this design. This design only salvages one part, which would seem to make it the most expensive solution. Although it adds two parts, they are relatively simple fabricated parts so it won't cost much to produce. The bench assembly of this design is the easiest and takes less time than our original design. Overall, the simplicity, ease of assembly, angle adjustment capability, and the use of two shocks provides the best total solution with plenty of capacity.

Stinger Fix

Great work! Very simple and cost effective. Haulz-All built a set of parts and tested the design. The force reduction was better than expected and is a cost effective solution that we may put into production. However, we will need additional design work to accommodate adjustable leg positions, and yet still be able to fold up the leg for transport.

STABILIZATION LEG - CONCEPT by max.marios

STABILIZATION LEG - CONCEPT

We like the simplicity of this design. It managed to salvage some parts, but could use a heavier shock. We will most likely build a set of parts to test for this design, as well.

Stabilizer Leg Suspension

This is an excellent, cost-effective design concept with simple parts. Since most customers wear gloves, we are concerned about how easy it will be to unlock and deploy from a stowed position. We are concerned about the durability of the wire parts and would like greater force reduction. We may still try to build a sample to test this one, too. Check for updates.

MEF STABILIZERLEG V3

This is a very good design that shows promise. It doesn't solve the force issue to our satisfaction. We want to build and test this design before we go into full scale production.

We love how compact this design is! However more parts to fabricate and bench assembly would definitely take longer. It would be great to see how to add additional arm positions and better force reduction.

We like this elbow solution. It is a great design that would allow many options for the type and size of shock that we could use. It manages to salvage many parts, but we are worried about the new parts being introduced. The linkage parts would have to be machined which would add cost, and we do not have the volume yet to justify tooling those parts. We would like to stay away from machined parts and possible pinch points.

We like that this solution was explained so thoroughly and showed a significant reduction in force. Good design, but concerned about the cost and durability of the knuckle.

We really like that almost all of the original parts are salvaged. Cool concept, but we could not find a cost-effective way to machine or cut the hooked slot in the back part of the leg. It is not clear how it folds up, or sure how it works. It would be great to see an explanation on those points and details on force reduction.

rear stabilizer with two shock springs by pablo-301

We like the simplicity and love that FEA was done on the parts. Again, we are not sure how easily it would fold up. It'd be nice to see a rendering or animation of that.
