A good value with ABS and Nozzle 0,4mm for ABS is an angle 20-30° referred to the horizontal. For PLA 15° to 25°.

generally its 45 degree .. but its depend on your printer capability and complexity of model ... high quality printer can print at 65 degree with cooling fan without supports

50° off of vertical is my rule of thumb for a decent appearance and accurate size.

For a clean print, I agree with Zack. If you are just trying to create a sub-surface, for instance, where some imperfections are acceptable, I agree with Fabrizio.

45 degrees is the rule of thumb ; however you may get away with several more degrees dependent on other factors such as print material, printing speed, layer height, etc...

So, I need to print this Model and I don´t know where to place my support. I use Cura as my slicer, but Cura places the support material exatcly like shown in the picture bellow. (red lines)

I need those surfaces in good quality, so the support will ruin it.

Please help me with this!

Is the appearance on the other side of the part critical? you could flip it and have the rough support surface on the inside of the part.

Or rotate it 45° and let it self carry from support at the bottom. I am not familiar with Cura, does it let you manually place support? I know in simplify 3d you have lots of control.

If you turn it sideways, here is what Simplify3D does with it.

The original model (which I am not allowed to share due to data privacy) looks more complex than that, in fact it is a shaft, so the only flat surface is the one shown in my picture. That´s why the model has to be printed in that direction.

You can tilt the model and place the support at the bottom:

I use PETG for a cleint - its a tricky material to use. I have been able to push the unsupported angles up to 65 degrees from vertical.
