All of a sudden, I have found that I have a little red triangle on many models that are years old stating I have "violation of community guidelines" anyone know what that is about?
Apparently my holder for a game controller violates the guidelines. I guess the word "gun" is too scary even when it's virtual reality "gun".
Easy fix for this "problem", I'll delete more of my models from this site.
I have a thread open right now where I've been trying to get clarification on the guidelines, and they will not give any definitive answers.
What's a shame is that they block certain drawings, without telling us anything. So we don't know where we didn't respect the GB rules, for my part I don't see how my drawing for NASA is blocked???!!!
Steven, following your open conversation, if you have any information, I'm interested!
How rude to remove the visibility of certain drawings without telling us anything!!!
Just to tell us where we've broken the GB rules, so we can improve in this regard...
It would be advantageous for you if they gave you some information as to why the visibility has been removed. However, it’s their website and they can do what they want without informing you. You’re a guest on their property. It’s not rude at all.
In all likelihood, the visibility of these models has been removed due to certain keywords being present in their description. Trigger words like: gun, rifle, war, bomb, kill, etc. seem to be the keywords that will cause the visibility to go away. It shouldn’t be difficult to look at your description and determine which words caused the problem. Anything that can cause your model to appear as a weapon will cause it to be blocked. The Grabcad website does not distinguish between real weapons, toys, games, industrial equipment or even a rocket. If the key words are present, the model will be blocked. It’s automatic. It’s seldom due to the actions of a real person. While I wish they would publish a list of the offending keywords, at the moment it seems to be a closely guarded secret.
There have been requests for the Grabcad team to modify these rules. However, it seems at this time the rules that cause many models to be blocked are in full force and will not be changed. They are proceeding with caution on the side of blocking weapons. They are likely afraid of someone downloading a weapon, using it, and it being traced back to Grabcad. They could be held legally responsible. Whether you agree or not is irrelevant. Again, keep in mind that it’s their website and they can do as they please.
When I add the following text to my model, it gets blocked:
SMD PLCC-4 package (Plastic Leaded Chip Carrier)
Dimensions W 2.8mm × L 3.2mm × H 1.9mm (± 0.2mm)
I cannot find any keyword in this text that corresponds to a weapon, armament, or weapon system.
and without this text: https://grabcad.com/library/led-89
I expect “C-4… plastic” are your keywords.
Ridiculous, I know.
Literally added C-4 and plastic. However, there was no response from the community guidelines violation filter. The model remains visible. Vague.
