Replicate Custom Counterbore

Hello There,

I got a bunch (over two hundred) parts which I need to substitute an old counterbore to a new one.
The old ones were made by sketching and doing a revolved cut, hence, only editable by hand.
For the new ones, I would like to make them futureproof, so, in a way that, if necessary, be possible to edit only an archive and all the others would be refreshed as well.
Also, its necessary to do all 2d Drawings.

After that long intro, I would like some help on how to achieve that.
For starters I tried to do an assembly of each part, create a cutting mold for the counterbore and making a cavity on my parts, which proved to be counter productive.
Any other Ideas?

I attached some pics, on the 2d drawing you can see that I have some boundary conditions to my counterbore. It need to end at least 0,4mm before the end of my part, regardless the thickness (which can vary from part to part) and envelop most of the screwhead.

With best regards,

Valter

It won't help futureproof the design, but you could import, or otherwise replace the old counterbore sketches with a new sketch (or a sketch block). That would prevent you from having to draw the sketch 100's of times.

If you really think the counterbore will need to be changed again in the future, you were on the right idea with the assembly/cavity idea. But, don't make parts into an assembly. The better way is to leave them as parts. Try this:
- Make a 3D model that represents the negative of the desired counterbore, save it as a part file
- Open a model needing counterbores added to it
- Import the negative counterbore part into the part you want to cut counterbores into
- Position the negative counterbore
- Use the Combine command to subtract one part away from the other
- Use pattern tools as needed to duplicate the counterbore. It looks like Sketch Based Pattern was used in your BBB image

If the counterbore shape ever changes in the future, you can just edit that negative counterbore model. All other models that reference it will be updated when they are opened (assuming no one breaks, locks, or removes) the external references.

So, I tried your suggestion but Solidworks doesn't allow me using Sketch Based Pattern to replicate the combine command.

I've attached a pic with the error (sorry, could'nt change the language to english).
