Redbox DVD is at the forefront of automated DVD rental whose scale has skyrocketed recently to hedge out nearly one third of the entire DVD market by becoming an added value for corporations such as Albertsons, Stater Bros, Wal-Mart, and 7 Eleven. I was brought on board at Redbox to supervise and then manage a market that stretched from downtown Los Angeles to San Clemente California. While I was employed as the Regional Operations Supervisor for my area I watched the machine count grow from 120 kiosks to nearly 240 by the time I left. In addition to our outstanding growth, monthly costs for my area were reduced by over 20% which was primarily due to an increase in machines and secondarily due to optimization of the day to day of our technicians and route drivers. Some of my responsibilities included:
* Working with other branches of operations, electricians, store managers, and logistics providers to ensure successful machine delivery
* Bringing together my team for team building and cooperative exercises
* Doubling as a technician during our growth
* Interviewing candidates to fill new positions during our outstanding growth
* Tracking all metrics for performance of distribution, accuracy, uptime, and cost for 6 technicians and route drivers
* Managing routes and workloads for 6 employees
Solutions Engineer
ShowMax Marketing
•
July 2008 - January 2009
At Showmax Marketing I was part of a vital 4-man team that built Showmax Data Solutions, a division of Showmax, from the ground up. SDS is centered on technology and procedures to satisfy the needs of Volvo's, Hyundai's, and Suzuki's lead generation programs. The technology captures hand-written sweepstakes entry forms from an Auto show floor, digitalizes them, stores the fields in a database, and then sends follow-up correspondence to interested parties within hours. My main contributions include:
* Researching and implementing OCR/ICR to improve speed and quality of data which included use of regular expressions, conditional statements, and databases for cleaning and storing of all extracted information
* Working closely with my other team members to ensure that my contributions fit into the overall architecture of the system we built together
* Researching and procuring the necessary hardware to make for our data verification system and lead generation system
* Creating basic best practice procedures for the field of near 60 employees
Route Driver to Warehouse Manager to Regional Technician
ZoomSystems
•
October 2004 - April 2008
During my tenure at ZoomSystems I held positions of increasing responsibility from route/replenishment driver to supervising a small warehouse and then as a Regional Technician. I was fortunate enough to be with the company through its outstanding growth, from a handful of retail locations to over 600 machines when I moved on.
As a Regional Technician I traveled frequently, often on the road 4-6 days a week supervising small to medium sized projects in Malls, Airports, and Retail locations. My range was the United States, flying into 2-4 cities a week. My typical day would include:
* First and second line phone support covering 600 machines
* Using my technical ability to reconfigure, reprogram, or repair the robotics of the machines and their Dell PC's in the field
* Making my own travel arrangements
* Communicating with drivers to ensure machine delivery
* Relaying notes on the installs to upper management on patterns in our machine staging and operations
* Caring for my own expenses for travel, hotel, rental car, food, supplies and tools
As a small warehouse supervisor I designed the floor plan and layout of our Southern California Warehouse, using AutoCAD 2004, and contracted a third party to install our steel racking. This required me to stay in close contact with our main DC in San Francisco and our controller at corporate for our quarterly audits inventory audits.
As a Route Driver I was responsible for the overall operation of the machines on my route which could require repair or replacement of mechanical parts, computer repair, solving telecom issues, and relocation of 2000 lb machines.
