No sleep, only coffee

My name is Joaquin. I am currently studying Mechanical Engineering at the University of Colorado Boulder, planning to graduate May of 2020. I've been playing around with SolidWorks and other 3D modeling software since the eighth grade thanks to software sponsorship through my high school robotics team. I've been competing on robotics teams since 2011 and today am helping lead a VexU team at CU, BUFF Vex Robotics. Today I am also working as lead Mechanical/Structural Engineer for a 3U CubeSat project called PolarCube in which I use SolidWorks every day from designing new structural components, to managing the entire assembly model, to creating drawings for my manufacturing engineers. In the Spring of 2017 I took a required CAD course for our major which allowed me to take the CSWA exam on which I earned a perfect score. I hope to earn my CSWP in the near future as well!

Colorado Space Grant Consortium Lead Mechanical Engineer for 3U CubeSat project

PolarCube is a student CubeSat project in collaboration with Air Force Research Labs and the Center for Environmental Technology with mission to perform multi-layer temperature sounding of Earth’s atmosphere. My roles as lead Mechanical Engineer include designing all structural (and occasionally some electrical) components and managing the full CAD model assembly, hands-on machining of test and flight hardware, and organizing schedules, bills of materials, and inventories.
