3D printing design

Does anyone know a good place to find 3D printing design recommendations?
Such as different types of joints and connections that work well with printing and their dimensions and tolerances? Or the types of thread profiles that works best. I don't yet have a printer to test different designs for my self to see what works and doesn't and have been unable to find a good source for this yet.

did you try websites like Sculpteo.com or Shapeways? They have a lot of information on 3d printing.

So I found this:
http://web4.cs.ucl.ac.uk/staff/t.weyrich/projects/jointfit/jointfit.pdf

And it is close to what I am looking for but I want to know what tolerances work best for different types of printers and materials.
