How to change the template of a solidworks part or assembly file?
How to change the template of a solidworks part or assembly file? Can the templates be changed in a step or iges file which once had another template?

go to Tools/Options; Select "File Locations" and then "Document Templates". You can add there the location of your new templates (part/assembly/drawing)
Next go to "Default Templates" and select your new templates for each category (part/assembly/drawing)
Done!
Open Your standard template and after make changes save as part/assembly template.

Sorry i don't know about step or iges
I'm able to edit templates in the way you've explained... It works, but now i would like parts which are made befor the edit to update... automatically all at once
is there a sollution for this?
