I can't understand what this dimension symbol means..

Please explain what the " M 30x2 " dimension (highlighted in the diagram) is telling about the circle at the top of the 2d sketch. This 2d sketch is an assignment of SolidWorks 3d modelling.

M30*2 is thread dimension.

M is miscellaneous 30 is diameter of nut 2 is height or depth.

M30x2 is a metric fine pitch thread according to ISO with thread diameter 30mm and a pitch of 2mm.
The indication of the pitch is necessary because a regular thread M30 has a pitch of 3.5mm

Another nice model based teaching aid... leaves the student guessing at the depth of thread and its classification...
