Looking for help working with point clouds

How do I create a surface from POINTS taken from a CMM program (Faro CAM2Q)?
After exporting my point data to an Excel doc, I import the data into a 3D sketch in Inventor 2013. Then...what steps are needed to create (complex curved) surfaces?

Nice job MIke....

Two Quick tips that you will also find on the link below...
1.While you import the xls file on dialogue you should find an option button... from there you can choose the one that is more appropriate for you...
2.Additionally, on this link you can find as the video explains an add-on for Inventor named as Point Linker...( http://labs.autodesk.com/utilities/pointlinker/ )
3. To complete your model as now you should have the curves connected by each point you can use loft command to take as a result the surface that you are looking for... The tools that you are point is for manipulation of surfaces and not actually to build one from scratch...
