Mechanical Engineer for parachute recovery system test and design.

The Graduate Mechanical Engineer (ME) research assistant will assist Dr. Sabby, Dr. Denn, and a team of researchers on a 3-year Department of Defense NDEP ESPECS grant study. The overall objective is to design and fabricate educational kits to further the development of STEM technologies for undergraduate university-level students and high school students. The kits will cover ten technical areas related to space and rocketry. Topics include cameras/optics, remote sensing, communications, data acquisition, telemetry, mobility, rocketry, robotics, and programming. Individual kits will typically involve integrating microprocessors (Arduino, Raspberry Pi, Jetson Nano…), programming (C, C++, Python), sensing, actuation, and mechanical hardware. Currently developing a model for rocket dynamics of a propulsive landing with gimble using Matlab/Simulink.

*Developed a UVC water purifier for a non-profit organization focused on providing clean water solutions to communities in Burundi, Africa. The project involved the design and implementation of a water purification system utilizing Deep Ultraviolet (UVC) light technology. This encompassed conducting extensive research on UVC light, designing a water waveguide system, and conducting patent and literature research to ensure the effectiveness and safety of the purifier. *Directed a team of interns in the design, prototyping, testing, and manufacturing processes of sprinter vans. Oversaw the coordination and management of various projects related to Sprinter Van conversions. This encompassed tasks such as cable sizing, electrical harness design, circuit design, implementation of sliding plumbing systems, and overall assembly process. HVAC systems design for RV.
