I’ve been using UE4 since its release and it has grown into one of the most comprehensive game engines available to develop with for 3D visualization, video animations, and executable applications launched from a desktop, laptop, or mobile device. I begin by importing SolidWorks CAD models into Modo or create mesh items natively in Modo, then after some work, I export files, textures, and materials for use in UE4. I have also used Modo’s Unreal Bridge and Epic’s Unreal Studio to port CAD data directly into UE4. Once inside the game engine, I work with imported mesh items, baked & dynamic lighting and shadows, advanced materials for both realistic & stylized appearances, essential Blueprint programming & level design, Cinematics & Sequences for animation cutscenes and video creation, blending & editing character animations using Persona, basic motion graphics using UMG, and the creation of particle effects using Cascade.

Highly proficient in creating CAD parts using Features, Sketches, Surfaces, Sheet Metal, Weldments, and Mold Tools, and in setting up configurations, display states, and equation-driven 3D parts. In assemblies, I work with both Top-Down and Bottom-Up design techniques to properly orient, mechanically mate, configure, animate and evaluate the 3D project. I produce 2D documentation to support the CAD files and to capture the design intent of any project, and additionally, I prepare the CAD files for use in other software to render, animate, and import into game engines to extend the 3D’s original scope into more elaborate and stunning production.

Highly proficient in After Effects, Premiere, Illustrator, and Photoshop where I typically take media exported from Modo, KeyShot, or the Unreal Engine to enhance and composite the project elements into marketing materials and conversation pieces. My versatility in these applications enables a smart delivery of both 2D and 3D integrated designs blended into a well-packaged graphics sequence, video animation, as well as the variety of production for print and web usage.

Highly proficient in polygon 3D modeling, retopology, UV mapping, 3D painting & sculpting, particle simulations & replicators, mechanical & character rigging, rendering & animation, procedural texturing, advanced shaders, physically based materials, and creating 3D/2D file exports for Unreal Engine and Unity game engines. I also use Modo specifically to import SolidWorks CAD files to extend their use with the flexibility of content creation software and pipeline CAD into virtual reality apps and virtualization.
