How can I open STEP file in SOLIDWORKS?

Learn how to open a STEP file in SOLIDWORKS. Follow this step-by-step guide so you can open STEP Files without any problems!

  1. Step 1: Start

    Start SOLIDWORKS.

  2. Step 2: Menu

    Click File Menu and choose Open.

  3. Step 3: Change file type

    Change file of type to STEP AP203/214.

  4. Step 4: Locate the STEP file

    Now browse to location where the STEP file is. In mine case it is on desktop.

  5. Step 5: Open the file

    Double click the file and it is opened. An import Diagnostics dialogue is displayed. You can click no for now.

  6. Step 6: Success

    Now the part is opened. You have just successfully opened a STEP file in SOLIDWORKS!

  7. Step 7: In Summary

    Opening Step Files in SOLIDWORKS can be done in five easy steps:
