How to convert enclosed surface to solid in CATIA?


Follow the steps to do the thickness on the surface

Step 1:
Create the piston which you wanted create the thickness

Step 2:
Go to Start -> Mechanical Design -> Wireframe and Surface Design

Step 3:
Select the Offset Tool from the Surfaces Toolbar

Step 4:
Select the surfaces to create a offset surface on the piston surface and enter the required dimension
-
Step 5:
The surface is created as shown
-
Step 6:
Likewise the other surfaces are also created by clicking on the surface
-
Step 7:
Other surface is also created from the given part
-
Step 8:
Same process is repeated for the other surfaces as below

Step 9:
Other offset surface is created on inside surface
-
Step 10:
Another surface is selected and click ok to create a offset surface
-
Step 11:
After that the surfaces looks like this.

Step 12:
Click on all the surfaces and click on Join Tool from the Operations toolbar as shown below
-
Step 13:
Click on OK for the surfaces to Join

Step 14:
Go to Start -> Mechanical Design -> Part Design
-
Step 15:
Now click on the Insert on the top and insert a body
-
Step 16:
Now click on the Thick Surface and select the surface to create a thickness from the surface
-
Step 17:
Select the direction to which it has to be created and enter the thickness
-
Step 18:
Now the thickened surface is shown below. And hide the surface if you want to hide it
-
Step 19:
Apply the material to differentiate that they are different
-
Step 20:
I have sectioned it to see the difference between the two materials
